In Iron County, you’ll find a 181-acre fishing lake known as Mercer Lake. With a maximum depth of 24 feet, this lake is home to several fish species, including muskie, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, Northern pike, walleye, and sturgeon. There’s a public boat landing where visitors can access the lake. You’ll need to get out on the water to access the prime fishing spots, such as the Dowell and Dahlin arms. There are also several points and small coves to explore. Mercer Lake County Park, on the southeastern part of the lake, is the best place to start fishing. Look for bass in places with lots of shade and cover, or around structures. The bass respond well to soft plastics, jigs, and crank-and-swim baits. If you want to catch trout, opt for lures, such as Rooster Tails®, Flatfish® and Kastmasters.
